At the tender age of seven John’s parents subjected to him to 'Robinson Crusoe: The Musical' starring Englebert Humperdink. Not looking back, he has been around the theatre and music scene ever since. That, coupled with too many years in high heels for 'The Rocky Horror Show', has somewhat distorted his perception of reality and gender, therefore naturally graduating to working on the groundbreaking musical 'Hedwig And The Angry Inch' in the USA. John has since directed Hedwig for Rose Tinted Productions at the Brighton and Edinburgh Festivals 2004 (award winner), Rombolotti Productions for the Italian premiere in Milan 04, Velvet Undergrowth's Edinburgh 05 (award winner), Janus Theatre Company's Wicked Little Towns mini tour 05/06 and culminating with the French premiere of Hedwig in association with Compagnie Frères Poussière which opened in Paris March 06. He is delighted to be leaving the blonde bitch behind (for a while) and turning his attention to the demands and delights of Saucy Jack... Recent film work includes: 'Daylight' (2004) which was nominated in three categories at the Osaka Film Festival and 'So Where Does This Wheel Fit'? (2005). When not working on theatre/film projects he heads up a team that is developing a new Arts and Community Centre scheduled to open in Newbury in 2007. John would like to thank his sponsors Pro-Plus and Red Bull for the energy and all the oh so talented Janus Theatre Company for the inspiration and creativity. He would like to dedicate this work to the memory of my mother Pat, who passed away a few months ago "Wherever your spirit is mum, this ones for you." |
